Clean lines and a design that you will not get bored of any time soon. Again, I prefer chairs such as these much more than bar stools due to their back support. I love a good desk chair. Well, I also love work desks so I am always on the lookout for a modern, clean looking chair to complement the heavy and classical desks that I prefer. While I do not dislike the minimalistic Scandinavian inspired work desks (some I absolutely adore), I feel that for my purposes I prefer the warmth that comes from a heavy, hardwood piece. Blox cube at Chiasso
Metal is all the rage and its is amazing to see just what can be done with a nicely proportioned piece of steel. We love this piece; made of industrial strength steel (hollow), multiples can be arranged to interesting effect (although I don’t fancy the idea of an ottoman as proposed on the web site). I can think of so many places where it would just rock. Sorely tempted to get one. It is 18 inches all around.

ANTILOP high chair from Ikea
Man, it took time to get something from Ikea on this blog. Its not for lack of trying, I assure you. But there were two issues. First, that many things on the Ikea.us web site are not available on the net and secondly, while we like what Ikea has done for furniture and Swedes, we are no longer enthralled by their stuff (guess we are over our student days!). Anyway, we have finally landed on a piece that we do like. A lot. Meet the Antilop high chair from Ikea. Made of a steel frame and Polypropylene seat, this seat is high on safety with its very wide stance and the included safety belt. And it looks cool.

Chalkboard table for kids (or adults?)
Here is an idea to keep the little ones occupied. The chalkboard table. Made of ply and a washable vinyl chalkboard, the table would inspire the budding artists and their cohorts to make as much mess as the like (hopefully sparing the walls). What I also like about the entire concept is that it uses chalk instead of those pesky markers. The bowl at the center comes in handy for storage. Please keep in mind that the price does not include the chairs; those are additional.

Potterybarn Chesapeake single chaise and cushion
Ah, the outdoors! Our bleached bodies are certainly hungry for some sun. Potterybarn, as the entire human race knows, always has cool and affordable stuff to offer. And it is hard to go wrong with them since they work just as well around the kitchen island. We have seen similar stools getting very popular now. “Slight” office chair
The shape itself if so inviting that it instinctively makes you want to sit down. Chromed steel frame, rolling base and an adjustable height round out the feature list. If you are looking for a modern look to your working (or non-working) space, this would be a great choice. And it is hard to argue with the price.

Giulietta counter stool
The Giulietta counter stools are a great alternative to the normal bar stools. The issue with bar stools that I normally have is that if you want to use them at home, the lack of back support makes for pretty uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time (unless you a Cheers character). The high bar chairs are a great alternative. The leather, as the DWR says, offers “give” which makes hanging out at the bar that much more easier. The price is great (right now) but don’t be surprised if it goes up a notch. Made in Italy is getting a lot more expensive these days.
